Raleigh, N.C. (June 1, 2009) – Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, Inc. welcomes John J. Meier IV, M.D., to the practice effective June 8, 2009.  Dr. Meier is a pediatrician who will practice at the North Raleigh office.

Dr. Meier attended Princeton University as an undergraduate and graduated cum laude before earning his MBA at the University of Chicago. He continued at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where he earned his M.D.  Dr. Meier completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Most recently, he served as the Chief Resident, Internal Medicine, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Meier received the prestigious Harvey Hamrick, M.D. Outstanding Teaching Resident award in 2006 and again in 2007.  He was named a Lenovo Fellow in 2008 and spent two months in Malawi on a medicine and pediatric hospital rotation. 

Dr. Meier is an avid sportsman who enjoys horseback riding, trap and skeet shooting, and ballroom dancing. He was a team member on the America’s Cup team from 1985-87. His other interests include international travel and reading.
