- Humana will also provide 2009 Medicare information and debut “Dancetown,” its new, interactive video game-based dance system designed for seniors What: Humana, Florida’s largest Medicare health benefits company with close to half a million members statewide, will present popular fitness enthusiast Richard Simmons on Thurs., Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon (see schedule below) at the annual Senior Friendly Extravaganza! at Tropicana Field in downtown St. Petersburg. Over the past 30 years, Simmons has authored nine books, produced 50 fitness videos, and encouraged millions of people to lose close to 3 million pounds by making fitness fun and promoting healthy eating habits. Today, Simmons continues to motivate people of all ages through his numerous TV, radio and personal appearances and his “PE crusade,” which aims to put physical education back in America’s schools. At the free event, Humana associates also will provide seniors with information about the company’s 2009 Medicare plans. The 2009 annual election period for selecting a Medicare plan runs from Nov. 15, 2008 to Dec. 31, 2008. Dr. Scott Latimer, Humana’s Central and North Florida market president for Senior Products, also will be available for media inquiries about 2009 Medicare. For more fitness fun at the senior event, Humana will debut Dancetown, the company’s new, interactive video game-based dance pad system for seniors. Dancetown combines the fun of arcade games with the benefits of dance and physical exercise and applies it, for the first time, to the active aging adult market. While Dancetown’s core gameplay is similar to other dance pad systems, it incorporates features such as a senior friendly visual design, easier dance levels, safety features, analysis and reporting tools and multi-player support, that make it much more senior oriented. (For an interactive demo on Dancetown, visit www.humanagames.com/#/experience/hg4hvideo/) Instructors from the Healthways SilverSneakersÒ Fitness Program also will be on hand to lead an exercise demonstration at 1 p.m. on Nov. 20 for seniors. Humana provides fitness center memberships at no cost as a benefit to its Medicare Advantage members in the Tampa Bay area through the SilverSneakers program.
